I love their smothered in green chili breakfast burrito!
We go out of our way to enjoy the wonderful food and friendly service. Very economical prices and the pies are homemade and very delicious. Green Chile is soooo good. They have been a Canon City tradition for many decades and still going strong. The "special" for lunch is superb.
Best breakfast burritos ever! Their green chili is delicious, great little ma and pop
I believe the most important part of any breakfast joint is the hash browns. This place had outstanding hash browns. Very friendly service, too, even though we were just grabbing something to go.
Pancakes are super yummy and the service was fabulous! The eggs and hasbrowns were ok. I would ask for the hash browns extra crispy next time.
Very charming old school restaurant. We had the lunch special of smothered pork chops, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Good food and good service.
We came here for our daughters birthday and we felt like family. Thanks 😊
Great food! Very friendly servers. Loved their breakfast burrito!
Long established family restaurant. Good stuff.
Wonderful food. Great service . Loved our waiter, the best attitude. Great restaurant. If your in Canon City, stop. It's worth it 👍 👍
This was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. We first got a giant cinnamon bun, which was so large I could split it with my brothers, and so good there wasn't enough time to take a picture! I got the French toast for my meal and it was delicious. Our waiter, Ranae made our experience even better. I highly recommend the Apple pie 😋
Outstanding down home cooking - great staff.
It was ok. For a small family diner it's very clean and the food was basic. Burger was cooked fine just no seasoning and no seasoning on the fries. I can now say I went but I wouldn't go back. I'll leave that to the long time locals
Powdered eggs is not home cooking
Great piece of roadside Americana ! The food is great the people were friendly. And the building is very unique. Would be nice if there was a little write up on the menus about the history of the place.
We had lunch there today and from the minute we walked in we liked it. Everyone was really nice especially our waitress. She was friendly and always had a smile and made us feel welcome. Our food was super good too. We will definitely go back again
Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices. Next time we are in town we will come back.
This diner is amazing! We got the Mr. Ed's Burrito and the biscuits and gravy, and both were just outstanding, with HUGE portions. If you get the burrito, expect it to be swimming in green chili sauce, though! The staff was great (Kristen was delightful, and super helpful!), the restaurant was clean and bright, and the prices were very reasonable. Our only regret is not having room for a giant cinnamon roll or pie!
Great breakfast! Food was delivered hot and tasted great. Kirsten was very personable.
This is the second time that we have visited Mr. Ed's Family Restaurant while on vacation in the Canon City area and we again enjoyed our experience. We stopped in for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning, but the service was still prompt and friendly. I had the big breakfast burrito smothered in green chili and it was as good as I remembered from our previous visit three years ago. This is a solid local breakfast option if you find yourself in the area.
Great home style cooking with a very friendly staff. When in town we always frequent Mr. Ed's Family Restaurant. Definitely try the green chili!
Very mediocre food. We tried the green chili based on other reviews. Let me tell you, it was NOT good at! The heat came from black pepper and not green chili and other than the heat, there was no flavor whatsoever. Our waitress made the experience with her bubbly and friendly attitude. I would not return for the food though.
Was in a couple days ago. Green chili was SPICY! So good. Kristen warned us it was hot today, but wowza. SO Good. Best green chili we've ever had. Had my husband sweating it out. Waitress also recommended the pancakes, and so glad she did. Didn't even need syrup cuz they were sweet. Traveling through, first time here, but we'll definitely be back. Amazing food, excellent service, great prices. A+++
Green chili is on point! Best I've had. Biscuits and gravy were AMAZING waitress, kristin killed it on the recommendations. If in Canon, this place is a must visit for breakfast.
Super friendly, great service. I'm from Texas and ordered the chicken fried steak. Lets just say Texas could teach them a few lessons. Sorry I won't be back. Over priced frozen food. Yuk.
Very good experience, nice staff and good food
Get a taste of the local flavor. We had the club sandwiches and they were delicious! We were looking for a local favorite and we found it!!
Great service, great food. Would munch again.
The food was not good at all. I got the chicken fried steak. It was terribly under seasoned if seasoned at all. Only margarine was served with the bread, which I guess others wouldn't care much about, but I do. Don't give me liquid plastic, give me butter. Also, I asked for lemon for my water and I think I was served last week's lemons. The server was nice enough though and kept asking how everything was tasting, but I didn't have the heart to tell her that the food was horrible. I didn't even eat the mashed potatoes and who turns down mashed potatoes? At least the ice cream was good.
My huevos ranchero was on point. The wait staff is great. Would recommend.
Good food and good service.
This was a real nice place to have a breakfast. I had huevos rancheros and it was delicious. I got the hot green chili, and it was actually spicy! It was very good, I recommend it. Everyone else's food was great as well, the staff is really nice and friendly.
Always delicious! Very affordable classic American diner fare. The only critique I've ever had is sometimes they're understaffed for busy days. But still the servers run constantly so you wouldn't guess they're understaffed.
We stopped in for breakfast the other day. It was like a step back in time. Home cooked food the way your grandmother made it.But the meal comes with a show. Our waitress kristen knew everyone's name but ours. It was entertaining, to say the least.Betty, Ed, and Richard were a hoot. Kristen seemed to know what they were going to order, before they did."Clarence, the one eyed cowboy" and his friend, jan were razzed by our waitress upon entrance, and they loved every minute of it. If I lived here, you better believe I'd be in at 9 am each day, if only to feel like I was home with friends and family. Best experience in any restaurant in 40 years.
First time visitors. Asked our waitress what to try and she had like 8 different must try options..so we ordered them all. Best green chili ever. Amazing homestyle sausage gravy. Pancakes to die for. Cinnamon butter on French toast was drool worthy. Biscuits = heaven. Giant cinnamon rolls were AMAZING. Service was on point!! Thanks Mr Ed's and a big thank you to the best waitress ever and her amazing smile. Kristen, we'll be back. Warn the kitchen staff, because we'll be ordering all the food.
Excellent breakfast spot. The locals gather here too. Service is top notch.
Great food and service....
I've been here twice now and the food both times has been perfect! I love breakfast food and I look forward to visiting again.
Fast friendly service. Green chili is nothing more than spicy gravy. Over priced and over rated at $8 pint. Anyone who thinks this is good green chili has yet to have good green chili. I didn’t order anything else so cannot comment
The food is awesome it's a family place that I go to every other month so good and I always get the kid cheeseburger (yes I'm a kid) everytime I go I eat it all. Very recommended
Good service. Friendly. Visited 1 mo ago .good food.
Always good food and good prices and friendly service
Decent selection and very good service. The patty melt used good beef. The chicken fried steak was a bit grisly and too much breading. Good salad bar.
I loved this place! My family and I stopped in while we were traveling home from Colorado to Kansas and I'm glad we did. The food was delicious, well priced and generously portioned. If you're looking for a cafe style cooked meal served by friendly folks this is a great place to get it.
It was okay. Wanted to try a Mom and Pop place to eat. Kinda pricey and food was okay.
It was good food thank you
Good food and great service.
Always good! When we are in town we always stop. We are from Pueblo West area. Mr. Ed' wife was eating the same time that we were. Have never met her before. Very nice lady. Gave us some history.
The staff is great and our waitress was fabulous, but we waited over 45 minutes for our food. We watched the entire restaurant clear out from the breakfast rush and still sat waiting. I enquired about our meal, and was told they were running behind, but I think they lost our ticket. Once the food did arrive (almost an hour later) it was delicious. So, if you have 2 hours to spend on a breakfast trip, and you're not starving and can wait, the food is good.
Very awesome choices for lunch and dinners. Very good pricing and awesome wait staff. Best place to eat in canon city so far :)
